Simple twists of fate. These are what brought me here.
It took careers as a Navy Corpsman, Registered Nurse and
Hospital Information Systems Engineer to give me the foundation
to be an advocate. It took the generous collaborations of advocates across the country to give me the knowledge and the statistics of preventable death and injury from the Institute of Medicine to give me the drive.
As a Patient Safety Advocate, I do the following:
* Share information about how to reduce medical errors
* Encourage the practice of patient-centered, evidence-based medicine
* Improve methods of patient education and patient safety monitoring
* Collaborate and develop solutions that do not yet exist.
We are an education and safety intermediary between the patient,
and the healthcare community. We are patient navigators and
safety advocates to help you receive safe, patient-centered care.
We work with you and your doctor to help you become better informed, involved and safer - before, during and after treatment.
Many people find healthcare complex and disorganized.
Many find becoming involved in their care overwhelming and impossible.
That's because healthcare is complex, disorganized and overwhelming.
Therefore, lets assume the status quo and focus on protecting our
loved-ones and ourselves. We can do this by taking personal responsibility
to minimize the risks by becoming very involved in our own healthcare.
Here's how:
The first commandment for anyone forced to seek medical care is
always have a competent, assertive advocate by your side at all times.
Next, become well informed about your diagnosis and treatment options.
Then add another layer of care. Do this by arranging for or providing
bedside Patient Safety Monitoring twenty-four hours per day.
Helping you to become well informed about your condition and having us provide 24/7 Registered Nurse Bedside Patient Safety Monitoring are just a few of the services provided by PULSE of Florida.
This is an interesting time in healthcare and patient safety.
In the last five years, many promising efforts have launched.
However, the task is far from complete. If we do not expand and
accelerate current efforts we can expect future surveys
concerning patient care to reveal a persistent lack of confidence
in the safety and quality of the nation's health care system.
That brings me to the launch of this new service.
I've combined my knowledge of patient care, patient safety and
computer technology to develop a process to inform,
protect and support patients, families and healthcare professionals.
The result is a single resource for patient safety services,
information and products.
The Benefits:
Patients and Family: Are informed, involved and relaxed.
Physicians and Staff: Our services streamline the care process
and reinforces compliance of treatment plans.
Hospital Administrators: Our Patient Safety Advocates improve overall satisfaction, quality, safety and risk management.
Health Plans: Our Patient Safety Advocates extend the effectiveness and reach of care management, which saves substantial amounts of money.
PULSE of Florida uses an all Registered Nurse staff.
We do not provide medical advice, only information.
Our services do not replace professional medical advice or treatment.
